And why should the public attend? We already voted it down once and apparently most on the council didn't listen. They already have their votes decided.

Very few people will show up to this meeting. This is just not an important topic for most in this town. What should be discussed is the pool bubble. When it comes to wasted taxpayers dollars the pool takes the cake.

Few people will attend b/c it's summer and no one pays attention to this stuff. They hardly do during the rest of the year either.

There may be a lot of surprised people when this project goes through b/c they're going to think it was voted down and how could it have been slipped through (conveniently during the summer).

I have a different perspective to offer. It's not that people in town don't care about these issues. Some care more than others but I believe most folks are aware of what's happening with this particular issue.

The problem for most folks is that this is not a high priority in their lives. I believe more folks than ever are more worried about issues hitting closer to home such as the economy, finances, job losses, etc.

I don't think a track field matters to people who lost their jobs or are running out of unemployment benefits or are trying to fight off a layoff.

That being said and with today's market drop due to the AA+ rating, I wonder what the town will pay in interest for the money borrowed for this project.

We all know that this is part of the larger artificial turf deal.
No matter what the public says, we won't convince the TC to change their minds. We have one councilman who feels other councilmen from his own party are "idiots" because they are questioning this project. I have to wonder who are the real "idiots"

Doing both projects at one time makes long term fiscal sense. Doing the project is the responsible thing. That is what leaders do.

Then why waste the publics time and money by putting it to a referendum?
That is my biggest issue.
The turf is being pushed through now because they are afraid the next group of TC members will not vote for it. They are under the gun to get this done before November.
In an extremely poor economy with the market dropping like crazy and so much uncertainty out there, it gives me peace of mind to know that our TC is being fiscally sound by pushing through these expensive projects.
November can't come fast enough....
Just curious, when will Falvey jump to the Dem side?

Why go to another BOE or TC meeting? Just like others are saying. You get a bunch of lip service and then they do what they want regardless of how the citizens feel. If they town wants to save money, skip all the BOE budget meetings, skip the TC meetings, shut off the lights and save electricity. Quit wasting the tax payors time by pretending you care what we think.
